Yuma Middle School’s eighth-grade students concluded a unit in science class by conducting an egg drop at the CHS/ M & M Co-op elevator at the weigh station in Yuma, last Thursday, May 10. The students watch from the ground as one of the egg boxes falls toward the target. Teacher Rachel Bragan had the honor of making the drops from above.

The sale of tickets for the 2012 Yuma County Fair events will be available to the public at the Yuma County Commissioners' Office, beginning Monday, May 14.

The Center for Rural Affairs released a report last week that challenges many conventional assumptions about where poverty and food insecurity exists in the central United States.
The report concludes that rural counties in the Midwest and Great Plains are experiencing higher incidence of poverty as well as greater rates of food insecurity, especially among children, than urban centers in the region.

Gov. John Hickenlooper, in partnership with The Denver Post, Viaero Wireless, and the US Pro Challenge, formally announced today the route for the inaugural Pedal The Plains Bicycle Tour, billed by the governor as “Colorado’s next big cycling event.”
