Otis gets first win
With its first win under its belt, the Otis High School boys basketball team entered this week looking for more.

The Bulldogs won 55-50 at Flagler last Saturday, improving to 1-2. However, they fell to 1-3 with a 43-29 loss at Weldon Valley, Tuesday night. They now have a three-game homestand, today, February 11, against Caliche, Saturday against Bethune and Tuesday against Idalia.
Last Saturday’s win in Flagler saw the teams tied after the first quarter. Flagler quickly jumped out to a six-point lead early in the second, and pushed its lead to as much as 12 in the third quarter.
However, Otis started battling back, eventually taking the lead in the fourth for an exciting win.
Jack Willeke had 21 points and 15 rebounds, Peyton Wells 16 points, five assists and three steals, Sawyer Packer six points and six rebounds, Tyler Reynolds six points, seven rebounds and three assists, Carter Wells four points, five assists and three steals, and Taylor Ringlein two points and three rebounds.
Tuesday’s game in Weldona saw Willeke have a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Reynolds six points and two rebounds, Packer five points, Ringlein three points and three rebounds, Garrett Patterson one point, P. Wells one point, six rebounds and three assists, and Tyler Johnson one point.

Stratton/Liberty still seeking first win
Stratton/Liberty’s boys basketball team entered this week still seeking its first win of the 2021 season.
The Knighted Eagles dropped to 0-5 with a 48-39 home loss to Class 2A Burlington, this past Tuesday. They are at Idalia today, February 11, and travel to Simla on Saturday before hosting Flagler on Tuesday.
Stratton/Liberty fell to Evangelical Christian, 66-45, on February 2. Ashtin Davidson had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Riley Shean nine points and two rebounds, Ethan Bohnen eight points, Charlie Clapper four points and two rebounds, Cyler Notter four points and seven rebounds, Daniel Tanner four points and three rebounds, and Charlie Tagtmeyer two points.
The Knighted Eagles then got to host 2A top-ranked Limon on Friday, losing 83-19. The Badgers ran out to a 26-6 lead in the first quarter, and kept going from there.
Notter had four points and two rebounds, Tagtmeyer four points and three rebounds, Dawson Thompson three points and two rebounds, Shean two points, Rustin Williams two points, Tanner two points, Davidson two points, two rebounds and three steals, and Austin Webb two steals.
Stratton/Liberty traveled to Cheyenne Wells on Saturday, dropping a 59-24 decision. The first quarter was rough again as Cheyenne Wells took a 22-3 lead.
Notter had seven points and three steals, Jose Gallardo six points, Clapper four points and three rebounds, Williams three points, Tanner two points, Shean one point, and Davidson one point and two rebounds.
Details from Tuesday’s Burlington game were not available Thursday.

Lone Star continues quest for first victory
The Lone Star boys basketball team will be looking for its first win during a busy stretch of its season.
The Longhorns fell to 0-3 with a 66-28 loss at Briggsdale, this past Tuesday. They are at Prairie on Saturday, and host Haxtun on Monday.
Tuesday’s game at Briggsdale saw the Falcons race out to a 21-10 lead, and pushed the margin to 59-20 after three quarters. Lone Star stats fron the game were not available yet Thursday.
