1A volleyball report

The Otis High School volleyball team was 3-6 entering this week’s action.
The Bulldogs hosted Class 1A top-ranked Merino this past Tuesday, and are at Briggsdale on Friday. Otis can take some encouragement by taking one set from the No. 1 Rams, but still lost in four.
Otis claimed a 21-25, 25-10, 25-20, 25-12 win at Lone Star, September 7. Rowan Tribelhorn had nine kills, Kayce Perry seven, and Madelyn Willeke five. Alli Hornung recorded 20 setting assists. Hornung was 18-19 serving with one ace, Hailey Stivers 16-17 with four aces, K. Perry 15-16 with two aces, Jaylin Weber 11-11 with one ace, Arlene Bencomo 10-12, and Jayce Perry 8-8 with one ace.
The Bulldogs traveled to Stratton last Saturday, suffering a loss in straight sets, 21-25, 13-25, 14-25. Tribelhorn, Willeke and K. Perry each had five kills. Otis served 97.9 percent but had only one ace. J. Perry was 13-13 with the one ace, K. Perry 11-11, Tribelhorn 7-7, Stivers 7-7, Hornung 6-7 and Bencomo 3-3.

LONE STAR
The Lone Star volleyball team is at St. Francis, Kansas, today, September 16, after losing its only match last week.
The Longhorns hosted Otis on September 7. They looked good in the first set, winning 25-21, but were swept after that, 10-25, 20-25, 12-25. Lone Star stats were not available.

ARICKAREE/WOODLIN
Arickaree/Wodolin’s volleyball team traveled to Wray this past Tuesday for its only action this week.
The Indian Mustangs lost to 2A Wray in five sets. Their next match is September 24 against Stratton.
They went 2-1 in the Bethune Tournament last Saturday.
They opened with an exciting 25-22, 27-25 win over Idalia. Joslyn King had three kills, and Tori Arfsten and McKenna Jesse two each. Cora Schrock and King each had two setting assists. Lilly Monat was 10-10 serving with two aces, Raeya Schrock 7-7, C. Schrock 7-9 with two aces, King 6-6, Jesse 4-6 with two aces, Janice Kalcevic 4-4, and Wynter Van Ness 2-3 with one ace.
Arickaree/Woodlin then held off Cheyenne Wells in three sets, 25-17, 20-25, 15-5. No stats were available.
The Indian Mustangs met up with Belleview Christian of Westminster in the final match, losing in two, 22-25 and 15-25. No stats were available.
