Organizers of the 5:10 to Yuma are excited to announce that the race will be back for 2021.
Saturday, June 19, is the date, and both the 5k and 10k course options will be available.
“We are thrilled we can offer the more ‘traditional’ 5:10 to Yuma experience with both the 5k and 10k”, Race Director, Alice Swanson Metzler, said. “We were glad we could do something in 2020, but boy are we happy to be back in full swing”.
Although it’s a bit of a quick turnaround, the June 19 date makes sense, Metzler said.
“Many races have already been deferred to the fall of 2021,” she explained. “We wanted to take advantage of the lightened restrictions we have in our area, and hopefully reach participants from out of the area that are just ready to run live. We will be marketing the race all throughout Colorado in hopes of enticing some of those folks.”
Course details are being finalized, but both races will most likely start and finish downtown this year.
“We like featuring downtown Yuma and offering businesses the chance to be open and reap the benefits of finish line shoppers,” Metzler said.
There will be a finish line festival celebration, and details are being put together and will be announced in the coming week. Proceeds of the race will go towards the renovation of the Yuma Museum.
The race is looking for sponsors and volunteers. If interested please contact Alice at 303-918-2819 or [email protected].
