YCCA Auction is Satuday

The Yuma County Cattlemen’s Association invites the public to its annual Steer Auction and Oyster Supper, held in conjunction with the 2025-26 YCCA Original Feedlot Performance and Carcass Contest on Saturday March 21, at Eckley Community Center.

The evening will begin with a Social Hour, beginning at 5 p.m. The supper starts at 6, and the auction begins at 7 p.m. The dinner and refreshments are free of charge for all members of YCCA, and a guest, and memberships are available at the door for $10.

The 75 steers were delivered to Schramm Feedlot in early November 2025. Following a 30-day warm-up period, they were officially weighed in to start the contest in December. A midway weight was taken March 2, and contest ends with official weigh out in late May. The results of the contest will be announced at the Annual YCCA Banquet and Awards Night in June.

YCCA will retain 10 percent of the sale of the steers, and 10 percent of the proceeds from the auction, for their many charitable contributions. After expenses are paid, the remaining revenue is returned to the participants of the contest, and participants of the auction, in prize money. Some of the endeavors YCCA supports include Beef Promotion, The YCCA Educational Scholarships, Support of the Yuma County Fair Junior Livestock Auction, Yuma County Fair Queen sponsorship, as well as many other awards and deserving projects that come up throughout the year.

If you didn’t enter the contest, the auction will give you the opportunity to support YCCA, and their worthwhile projects. For more information, contact one of the Contest Chairs — Heath Roundtree 970-630-3798, Tuffy Murphy 970-630-0243, or Darrell Smith 970-630-2379, or YCCA Chairman Dick Mekelburg 970-630-2397. We hope you join us in Eckley Saturday March 21.
