There was a big turnout Sunday night for the Yuma County Republican County Assembly and Lincoln Day Dinner.
It was held at The Estate at The 99 south of Yuma. A little more than 150 attended the event, which attracted several state and federal candidates.
Nine delegates out of the 62 county delegates were elected to advance to the State Assembly in Pueblo on April 11. They are David Schaffner, Kristen Schaffner, Reese Shay, Amanda Shay, Kevin Mathias, Matthew Hardesty, Lola Mathias, Chad Day and Peggy Brophy.
All the Republicans running for a county seat received enough delegates to make it onto the primary ballot: County Assessor, Kaci Scholes; County Clerk, Haleigh Studer and Sara Vance; Sheriff, Larry Gilliland and Matthew Hardesty; County Treasurer, Chrystal Hammond; County Coroner, Javan Jones, and; Commissioner District 1, Cliff Leonhardt
Bev Wenger was honored with an award in recognition of her many years of dedicated service as Yuma County Clerk and Recorder.
State and federal candidates that attended were Lauren Boebert and Eric Phelam, Congressional District 4, U.S. Senate candidate Sean Pond, Secretary of State candidate James Wiley, gubernatorial candidates Maria Orms, Bob Brinkerhoff, John Brooks, Barb Kirkmeyer, and Jason Mikesell, State Treasurer candidate Kevin Grantham, and Bryon Pelton of State Senate District 1, and Dusty Johnson of House District 63.
