Washington County rivals Otis and Arickaree will square off on the gridiron Friday night in Otis. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Otis enters the league game with a 2-0 record after last Friday’s 58-38 home win over the Weskan Coyotes, Kansas’ defending 6-man champion. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 6 in the Colorado Preps’ 6-man Top 10.
Arickaree is 2-1, rolling past Prairie 45-6 last Friday at home.
Otis rode a series of long runs to a 32-16 halftime lead last Friday against Weskan. The Coyotes scored both of their touchdowns on kickoff returns, the first coming after Otis had opened a 20-0 lead.
The Bulldogs kept scoring in the second half, with their last two touchdowns coming on relatively-short runs of 15 to 20 yards. Weskan found its footing a bit offensively, but never could threaten the Bulldogs.
Full Otis statistics were not available, but Mitchell Stivers and Cambric Klinzmann both had a huge night rushing and scoring touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Arickaree bounced back from a loss the previous week with a 45-6 home romp over Prairie. The Bison led 26-0 at halftime, and 45-0 after three quarters.
The Bison racked up 445 rushing yards. Austin Wright got most of that, running for 359 yards and five touchdowns on 17 carries. Jorge Ramos added 85 yards on 11 carries. Jaxson Cordell completed both of his passes for 26 yards, and Ramos completed a 10-yard pass. Ramos had one catch for 23 yards, Wright one for 10, and Daniel Goff one for three yards.
Defensively, Keith Page and Cordell each grabbed an interception. Goff was in on seven total tackles, Page six, Cordell three, Colton Sperry two and Luis Machado one.
