The Yuma County Softball team was 4-7 heading into this past Tuesday’s game at Chase County in Imperial, Nebraska.
YCS is at Valley on Saturday for a varsity/junior varsity double header.
The team split four games at the Brush Tournament last Friday and Saturday.
YCS opened tourney play Friday with a 9-3 win over Holyoke. The score was 4-3 when YCS scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Priscylla White went the distance for the pitching win. She struck out seven and walked two, yielding only five hits. Grace Jones had two hits and one run, Ellie Oestman hit a two-run double, Jillian Ridnour one hit, Lauren Gdanitz two hits, and two runs, Clara Oestman two hits, one RBI and two runs, White a two-run single, London King three runs, Danyelle Davis one hit, two RBI and one run, and Autumn Maggard one hit.
YCS faced a tough Sterling team in the next game, losing 15-0. Ridnour and Maggard had the only hits. Davis took the pitching loss.
The girls were back in Brush on Saturday for two more games.
They opened with a 15-4 win over Florence. YCS statistics were not available. They then closed out the tournament with a 12-6 loss to Platte Valley. YCS statistics were not available.
