Bank of Colorado awards Lebsock as Teacher of the Year

The Bank of Colorado has recognized Kristina (Tina) Lebsock as the 2024-25 Teacher of the Year.

The Yuma High School ag education teacher and FFA advisor was nominated by Principal Brady Nighswonger. Also nominated were Kiera Hess from Morris Elementary Schoo, and Jeanne Yenter, the Yuma School District-1 Transportation Supervisor who was nominated by Yuma Middle School. The Bank of Colorado recognized that all three were very deserving.

Following is the nomination letter for Lebsock:

“Tina is someone that always comes to mind when this time of the year rolls around. She is one that could be nominated for this award each and every year. ”It is hard to find anyone more passionate about their career than her. Being an Ag teacher is a year round job. It starts in June with the state FFA convention, which is a great way for the new officers to dive feet first into their role. They take that time getting to know each other and planning the school year.

“There are two specific events that I look forward to each year. This past year I had the opportunity to accompany Tina and the sophomores on their national trip to Indianapolis, Indiana. It was here that I really got to see the planning and preparation that goes into pulling this trip off. Tina had spent many hours carefully planning the travel, events, and accommodations for all those that attended. Ambition and organization is what showed through in this whole process.

“My second favorite event of the year is Ag Days. This was the third year we have participated in this event. Mrs. Lebsock sets up four different locations around Yuma that are agricultural based. We have been to Five Rivers Feedlot, Agri-Inject, CHS, private ranches, and places like Quality Irrigation. This helps me see the passion that Tina has for agriculture, especially in Yuma County. She wants kids to know what there is out here in hopes they return and raise their families. ”However, my favorite characteristics about Tina, is the caring, compassionate, role model she is for our students. It is easy to see that students trust her and generally enjoy being in her classes and around her. There are many students that seek advice and mentorship from Tina, she is good for students, and good for Yuma High School. ”I can’t think of a more deserving teacher for this award than Mrs. Tina Lebsock.”
