Beaulah Marie (Hansen) Aagesen was born on August 11, 1933, at Aunt Mildred and Uncle Pete
Hansen’s home in Yuma, Colorado. She entered into rest on November 25, 2025, surrounded by
family at Yuma District Hospital. She was the fifth child of Alfred and Jeannie (Aydelott)
Hansen. Beaulah was raised on the family farm located south of Lone Star.
Beaulah attended all 12 years of her education at Lone Star School. She graduated in 1951, and then
attended Business School in Denver, Colorado from 1951-1952.
During her time in Denver and after a brief marriage, Ricky Wayne was born on December 18,
1952. Beaulah and Ricky moved back to the family farm in late 1953. There she became
reacquainted with Harold (Sonny) Aagesen Jr. On November 5, 1954, they were married in Fort
Morgan, Colorado. Beaulah and Sonny celebrated 50 years together in 2004
To this union four children were born: Christina, Charlene, Rodney and Cynthia.
The family lived in several places in Yuma and Washington counties but settled down in the Yuma
area around 1970.
Beaulah held several jobs in her lifetime: waitress, dishwasher, school secretary, insurance agent
and retail clerk. She owned and operated three businesses in Yuma.
Beaulah kept busy raising her family while working on many craft projects. One of her cherished
hobbies was collecting horses of various shapes and sizes. She loved crafts and had a natural talent
that enabled her to replicate almost any craft she saw. She loved crocheting, tole painting, ceramics,
plaster, gardening, working with beads, making and fixing jewelry, scrap booking, family dinners,
sewing, camping and watching the Denver Broncos.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Harold (Sonny); parents Alfred and Jennie Hansen;
in-laws Harold and Gertrude Aagesen; brother Jerry and sister-in-law Johnie Hansen; sister Verna
Mae and brother-in-law Elmer Miller; sister Lorna and brother-in-law Reinold Frick; brother
Laverne and sister-in-law Jean Hansen; brother Bobby Hansen; brother Donald Hansen; brother-in-
law Gary Pletcher; sister-in-law Betty Gallagher and husband Vince; sister-in-law Barbara Powell;
and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
Beaulah is survived by her children: Ricky (Donna) Aagesen, Christina Gates, Charlene Svitak,
Rodney Aagesen, Cynthia (David) Kemper; grandchildren: Richard Helpingstine, Kari Serl, Kathy
Gates, Elizabeth Basham, Devon (Alycia) Kemper, Jonathon (Kayla) Aagesen and Erik (Stephanie)
Kemper; great grandchildren: Kayla (Hayden) Harris, Jayson (Jessica) Serl, Alyssa Helpingstine,
Dustin Kemper, Bradley Kemper, Jayden Serl, Jindrah Kemper, Mahayla Kemper, Oliver Kemper,
Mason Kemper, Peyton Basham, and Luka Kemper; great-great grandchildren: Dusti Harris, Taos
Harris and Dallas Harris; brother Max (Marty) Hansen; sisters Eunice (Ron) Beechley, Donna
Pletcher; sisters-in-law Hellen (Tom) Jones, Sherrie Hansen and Terrie Hansen as well as many
more nephews, nieces and cousins.
