Charlotte “Char” Jean Long 1937-2022

Charlotte “Char” Jean Long, 85, passed away on March 17th, 2022, in her home in Wray, CO. with family at her bedside. Char is survived by her husband and dance partner, Dean Long; her daughters, Julie Allen of Strasburg, CO, and Laura Funderburgh (Joe) of Commerce City, CO; and her sons, Ron Long (Linda) of Oriental, NC, and John Long (Tamara) of Greenville, SC. and her sister, Sylvia Baird of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Char was born on February 23, 1937 to Wilheim and Dorothy (Brixen) Beelow in Antioch, Illinois.
Char was an amazing wife, loving & caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She really enjoyed dancing and could be found waltzing around at the area dances with her husband Dean & friends.
After growing up in Antioch, IL. Char moved to Tucson, AZ where she met her lifelong partner, Dean who was in the Air Force. Char and Dean married and she spent the next 20 years as a Military Wife & Mother, traveling throughout Europe for two 3 year tours, and then back stateside for the remaining 14 years in 5 different states. In 1973, the Long family moved to Colorado where she and Dean have lived ever since. In the mid-90’s, Char and Dean moved from Aurora, CO to retire in Wray, Co.
Char will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery, in Vernon, CO.
In lieu of Flowers, the family suggests memorials to be sent to Hospice of the Plains Wray, CO at 615 W 8th St. Wray CO 80758.
