Chuck Keller, age 79, passed away at the Hamilton County Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. He was born on June 6, 1940 in Flagler, Colorado the son of Lester Burr Keller, and Alice May (Short) Keller.
Chuck grew up on the ranch south of Kit Carson and attended school in a one room school house in Wildhorse through the 8th grade. He then attended Kit Carson High School and graduated in 1958. He went on to further his education attending Colorado State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and graduated in 1962. After getting his college degree, he moved back and helped with the family ranch. At the age of 28, he began working for Federal Land Bank in Lamar. On January 15, 1971, he married Patricia Karyl Ochs in Eads, Colorado. To this union two sons were born, Kenneth Duane and Vance Ray. In 1972, they moved to Yuma and Chuck continued working for the Federal Land Bank until 1983, when he then began working for Farmers State Bank. In 1993, they moved to Lamar, and began working at the Valley State Bank and later changed the name to Valley National Bank for the next 16 years. In 2008, Chuck retired and they moved to Syracuse. He enjoyed helping his son Ken with the farming operation. He really liked living in Syracuse and resided there until his passing.
Chuck was a past member of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce Board in Yuma, managed Skyline Stampede his senior year at CSU, and started the Ag Frontier Days in Yuma. He enjoyed roping, ranching, watching rodeos, but his greatest enjoyment was watching his grandkids play sports. He never missed the opportunity to go to a football, basketball, or baseball game to watch his grandkids play. Chuck never met a stranger, he will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

He is survived by: Spouse: Patricia Karyl (Ochs) Keller of Syracuse, KS.
Two Sons: Kenneth (& wife Denise) Keller of Syracuse, KS; Vance (& wife Angie) Keller of Syracuse, KS
Six Grandchildren: Chase Keller & friend Karly Shull of Syracuse, KS; Kendi Keller of Syracuse, KS; Kyler Keller of Syracuse, KS; Brody Keller of Syracuse, KS; Charlie Keller of Syracuse, KS; Brock Keller of Syracuse, KS.
And many family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM (MDT) at the First Presbyterian Church, Syracuse, KS. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, KS.
Visitation will be held, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Fellers Funeral Home LLC in Syracuse,KS.
