Council, Y-1 Board swear in new members

Re-elected and newly-elected members were sworn in during this past Tuesday’s Yuma City Council meeting.

Mayor Tim McClung was sworn in for a new four-year term, and Nathan O’Neal and Michael Fitzsimmons began their first terms. They replace Jerome Benish, Terri Frame and Vanessa Dischner, who did not run for re-election. Mike Aagesen also was elected to the council, but passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The new council will decide how to go about filling his seat, as well as the seat vacated by the resignation of Zach Diaz earlier this this fall.

A proclamation honoring Aagesen was read following the swearing-in ceremony.

Dan Baucke and Marc Shay are holdovers from the previous council.
