Cross country slogged through the rain

The Yuma High School cross country runners have had some interesting times recently.

The Outlaws competed in the Runners Roost Invitational on Tuesday at the Adams County Regional Park XC Course. Like in Yuma and throughout much of eastern Colorado, it was raining steadily but meet went on. The course includes running through a creek, but the rains turned it into a running river.

Everyone took it on, though, and seemed to take as a fun adventure as many runners were in water up to their chest in some areas.

Alan Flores led the Yuma boys as he finished 20th in 20 minutes, 29.2 seconds. Eli Hart was 23rd in 20:44.8, Agustin Montes de Oca 45th in 21:52.5, Esteban Gonzalez 72nd in 23:14, and Anderson Habana 75th in 23:16.8. Nine other boys ran for the Outlaws.

Achtonn Neill-Davison led the way for the girls, placing 29th in 25:01. Kenya Arvizo ran the course in 31:43.4, Layla Glanz in 31:43.4, and Ayme Escobar in 31:43.7.

The Outlaws were at the Windsor Wizards Invitational at Boardwalk Park last Friday.

Flores was 23rd in 17:51.18, Montes de Oca 77th in 19:25.55, Jose Jacquez 88th in 29:13.8, Kolton Strand 195th in 21:13.76 and Esteban Gonzalez 106th in 21:19.42. Eight others also ran for the Outlaws.

Neill-Davison was 49th in the girls race in 23:14.05, Glanz 70th in 25:02.79, and Arvizo 84th in 27:02.57.
