Del “Kent” Rhoades, 55, of Johnstown, formerly of Longmont, passed away on September 5, 2025 in Rock Springs, Wyoming after suffering a motorcycle accident.
Kent was born June 25, 1970 in Denver, Colorado to Mary Rhoades. As an infant, Kent was baptized at the Burdett Presbyterian Church north of Otis, Colorado. In his youth, he was active in the Boulder First Church of the Nazarene with the youth group, played sports and enjoyed going to concerts. He attended Boulder Valley Schools, including Boulder High School.
He worked a variety of jobs, from roofing to construction and was also a self-taught mechanic, with the help of his friend, Sean McCoy.
Kent was a member of the American Legion Riders in Longmont where he served as Vice-President in Longmont and Firestone. He also enjoyed the mountains, four-wheeling, camping, time with friends, riding his Harley, time at the family farm in Yuma and playing pool at the Moose Lodge in Longmont. Most important to Kent was time spent with his family, especially his daughter and granddaughters. Any time that he could offer help, he was there for friends and family.
Thankful to have shared his life are his mother, Mary Rhoades, his daughter, Samantha Erwin, two granddaughters, Kenzey and Haylin Edwards, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jacob and Evelyn (Leighton) Rhoades, Lewis and Clara (Imhof) Rhoades, Delmer “Dell” Howard and Coryl Leona Leighton, a special uncle, Curtis “Dean” Rhoades, and a cousin, Curtis Dean Rhoades II.
Kent’s Life Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2025 at Twin Peaks Church of Christ, 741 S. Bowen Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501 with a lunch to follow at the Longmont Moose Lodge, 2210 Pratt Street. Inurnment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Johnstown Cemetery.
