Eldon (EJ) Dean Imhof was born in Yuma, Colorado on March 26, 1955 to Glen and Doris Imhof (Kerst). Eldon went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2025 at the age of 70.
Eldon grew up in the Lone Star community on the Imhof family farm and was the third born of five children. He attended K-12 and graduated from Lone Star School in 1973. While in school, he was on the student council and played football and basketball. He found an interest in cars and attended vocational class for autobody at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.
Eldon married Gayle Imhof (ex-wife) and had two beautiful children, Eoin and Elizabeth. Eldon was a dedicated father and son who helped raise his children and cared for his own mother in her later years of life.
Eldon spent many happy years working as a truck driver locally and over-the-road. Eldon could also be considered a renaissance man and someone who loved working with his hands. He enjoyed history, researching science, and following the James Webb telescope; an artist who enjoyed leather making, woodworking, glass work, tinkering, and making his famous lead elephants; outdoorsman who spent time fishing, camping, arrowhead hunting, shooting guns (and loved working on them); car mechanic, champion pool player, card player, tractor pull competitor and enjoyed antiquing. While these are only a few of his many talents, EJ could carry a conversation about any subject you threw at him.
EJ enjoyed laughing and making people laugh. He was a fond friend of many and enjoyed the companionship of his dogs, Rose, Dookie, Gizmo and most recent dog, Sophia.
Eldon is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Glen and Doris Imhof and sister, Kellie Kae Swopes. Eldon leaves behind his children Eoin and Elizabeth and fiancé Jason, dog Sophia, siblings Leslie, Doug and wife Teresa, Kim and wife Kathy, brother-in-law Jim Swopes and their families. He had a great love for his family and friends and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Yuma Community and Enrichment Center on January 10th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. Memories, Prayer, and food will be provided. Any memorials may be made to the family.
