Girls golf ends at regional

Yuma High School’s girls golfers gave it their best shot but came up a little short in their bids for state tournament berths.
Jailyn Mekelburg and Aspen Chadwick competed for the Indians in the Class 3A regional, Monday at Marianna Butte Golf Course in Loveland.
Coach Jenny Noble said there were 42 golfers, and one had to finish in the top 21 to qualify for state. The final qualifying score was 111.
Mekelburg just missed the cut, shooting a 113. She had a 58 on the front nine and came home with a 55 on the back nine. Chadwick had a great first round of 54, but struggled on the back nine with a 67, finishing with a 121.
