Girls wrestlers wrapping up regular season

The Yuma High School girls wrestling team will conclude the regular season Friday.
The young ladies are at Platte Valley on Friday. Their next action will be next weekend at the North Regional in Broomfield, competing for state berth.

Yuma had one last home appearance last Thursday in The Pit, sweeping past Fort Morgan and Sedgwick County.
Yuma’s girls won five of the six matches decided on the mat.
They opened against Fort Morgan, winning the team score 54-15. Abril Montes de Oca won by fall at 155 points, and Camila Sanchez won by fall at 100. Danika Dischner lost a tough 4-3 decision at 170 Getting forfeit wins were Chloe Smith at 105, Peyton Hynson at 110, Kenya Arvizo 115, Ashley Marshall 120, Destiny Henderson 125, Sakari Shields 130, and Laura Estrada 135. Yuma gave up forfeits at 190 and 235.
The Yuma girls then posted a 63-0 dual win over Sedgwick County. On the mat, Myka McDonald won by fall at 100, Sanchez earned a 6-4 decision at 105, and Smith won by fall at 110. Getting forfeit wins were Hynson, Arvizo, Marshall, Henderson, Shields, Estrada, Montes de Oca, and Dischner.
They then had a great showing at the Chatfield War Horse Invitational on Saturday, finishing 13th in the 50-school field with 39 points. Chatfield won the team title with 155.
Yuma won plenty of matches, but had only one placer.
That was Montes de Oca, who placed third at 135. She won her first match with a 47-second pin, and won a 4-0 decision in the quarterfinals. The senior lost her semifinal by an 8-3 decision, but got a medical forfeit in the third-place match.
Sanchez won two matches at 100, Smith two wins at 105, Marshall two wins at 115, Henderson two wins at 125, and Dischner two wins at 170.
In the “Silver” division, Hysnon won two matches at 110, McDonald two wins at 100, Shields one win at 120, Arviso two wins at 110 to place second in the Silver B bracket, and Estrada one win at 125.
