Kena Serl will be playing in the Class 2A State Tournament, Monday and Tuesday in Pueblo.
The Yuma High School sophomore qualified at the 2A Region 1 Tournament held Monday at Quail Dunes in Fort Morgan. She shot a 105 to get in as one of the 13 individual qualifiers out of the regional. The state tournament will be held at Pueblo Country Club.
Sterling and Brush qualified as teams. Yuma coach Luke Goeglein said two from Wray, Addison Jones and Kyla Kramer, and three from Holyoke also qualified, so northeast Colorado will be well represented at the first-ever 2A tournament.
Goeglein said the conditions were hot Monday after the golfers played mostly in cold, windy and rainy conditions for much of the season. Goeglein said the Outlaws battled through the best they could.
Madilyn Rahm shot a 122. Goeglein said she played great all day but had two bad holes that derailed her chances for a state berth. Senior Aspen Chadwick concluded her high school career at regional with 124. Goeglein said she also played well except for a few tough holes. Avery Langley as the fourth player on the Yuma team.
The Outlaws finished eighth in the team standings.
