Local 1A athletes competed in Yuma Early Qualifier

The Lone Star track and field teams got their seasons going last Saturday at the Yuma Early Qualifier.
The girls team scored 19 points, while the boys posted nine.
Alivia Weathers won the triple jump with a distance of 33-10.75. She cleared 8-3 for second in the pole vault, while Aleighcea Kuntz was eighth at 6-3.
Wyatt Cochran was fifth in the discus with a distance of 105-8, and fifth in the shot put at 37-11.5. Ethan Glenn ran the 1600 in 5:57.04 for eighth place.
Arickaree/Woodlin
The Arickaree/Woodlin track and field teams had a good run at the Yuma Early Qualifier, last Saturday. The boys finished fifth in the team standings with 39 points, while the girls were 10th with 11.5 points.
A/W’s boys had four placers in the 400 dash, as Hayden Page was second in 54.09 seconds, Jacob Jefferson third in 55.93, Bryce Shaffer seventh in 59.1, and Samuel Koolstra eighth in 59.39. Jefferson was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.48 seconds, and Landry Peeples took eighth in the 200 in 25.28.
The 4-by-400 relay team placed second with a time of 3:46.84, while the 4-by-200 team was fourth in 1:40.19.
for the girls, Janice Kalcevic was eighth in the 400 in 1:15.72, and McKenna Jesse eighth in the high jump by clearing 4-foot-2.
Otis
The Otis High School boys track and field team scored 23 points at the Yuma Early Qualifier, last Saturday, while the girls posted one point.
Peyton Wells placed third in the discus with a toss of 113-foot-3. Carter Wells took fifth in the long jump at 17-4.5, Maddox Hisam fifth in the high jump at 5-2, Taylor Ringlein seventh in the pole vault by clearing 9-3, and Sawyer Packer eighth in the triple jump at 33-3.5.
Koden McPheron was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 26.71 seconds. The 4-by-100 relay team placed fifth with a time of 51.04 seconds.
The girls’ lone point came courtesy of Madelyn Willeke, who placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 12-10.75.
