The Otis football team is on the road for the first time this season, while the Arickaree team is back to a Thursday night game after the Washington County rivals played an exciting, competitive game last Friday in Otis.
The Bulldogs are 3-0 and ranked No. 6 in the Colorado Preps 6-man Top 10, after their 36-28 win over Arickaree.
The Bison are 2-2 and have another tough one tonight, September 18, as they host No. 3 Stratton, who was upset by Caliche last week.
Arickaree took advantage of Otis miscues to race out to a 14-0 lead, last Friday. The Bulldogs battled back to tie it by the end of the first quarter, then scored the only points in the second quarter to take a 22-14 lead.
However, the Bison battled back in the third for a brief lead, but Otis came back for a 30-28 lead heading into the fourth. The Otis defense again shut out Arickaree in the fourth, and added one more touchdown for the eight-point win.
Arickaree’s Austin Wright ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Jorge Ramos added 31 yards on eight rushes. Wright completed four passes for 84 yards and one touchdown, but also threw an interception. Ramos had the touchdown catch, finishing with four catches for 75 yards. Jaxson Cordell completed one pass for 18 yards, and Daniel Goff had one catch for 22.
Defensively, Cordell returned an interception 15 yards, and Angel Palomo recovered a fumble caused by Ramos. Ramos was in on 14 total tackles, Keith Page eight, Goff seven, Wright seven, Cordell four, Colton Sperry two, Luis Machado two, and Palomo one.
