Yuma High School’s boys golf team is back in action this week after a nice run at the Eaton Invitational last Thursday.
The Outlaws are supposed to go to the Holyoke Invitational on Friday, then on Wednesday travel to the Frontier Academy Invitational at Boomerang Links in Greeley.
Yuma’s foursome shot a team score of 278 at Eaton.
Alexander Weathers led the way with an 82 on the Eaton Country Club course. Braxton Metcalfe set another personal best with a 98. Coach Benjamin Weathers noted that Metcalfe has set a new personal record in every tournament to date, solidifying his spot on varsity. Orly Lynch shot a 98, and had a run of bogie or better on eight consecutive holes. Carter Benish rounded out the team with a 104 with one par.
A. Weathers got to play with Frontier Academy’s Isaiah Fowler, last year’s regional champion who finished sixth at state. He also played in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Championship at Augusta National in Georgia last April. Coach Weathers said it was a great learning experience for Alexander, as Fowler shot even par at Eaton.
