Timothy Wayne Sprouse was born June 12, 1956 in Yuma, Colorado to James Herman Sprouse and Elzene Higgins Sprouse. He passed away August 21, 2025 at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins, Colorado at the age of 69 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas on October 6, 1957 and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yuma, Colorado on March 22, 1970, where he remained a member until the time of his death.
He was in cub scouts and boy scouts where he received his Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow Awards. He stayed involved in scouts as an adult volunteer for many years. Some of his favorite activities in scouts were hiking, camping and cooking over the campfire. Peach and cherry cobbler were his specialties. He graduated from Yuma High School with the Class of 1975 where he participated in football and wrestling.
He was married to Shirley Simpson Sprouse in 1979. They had 4 children Holly, Kyle, Tyson & Jordan. He built houses with his Dad and Uncle Clarence Mekelburg and boys, and his brother Dan. Later he started installing carpet for Yuma Home Improvement and then purchased the business in 1989. He continued operating the business until his time of death. Some of the projects he worked on included the Yuma Hospital & Clinic addition, Yuma Middle School addition, High Plains Manor remodel, Yuma Townhomes and many churches. He also helped his sons with Sprouse Tree Service occasionally. He took pride in taking his children and grandchildren to work with him, teaching them how to do everything in life, passing along all of his skills and knowledge. (Even though his grandchildren got away with things that his children never would have even tried!)
He was a member of the Yuma Jaycees for many years, holding local, regional and state offices. One of his favorite projects was the Haunted Houses they did every Halloween. He also enjoyed bowling on the St. John’s Lutheran bowling team for many years with Pastor Ude and several other church members.
Tim started taking pictures at an early age. He became interested in sports photography when his children began playing, then continued on with his grandchildren. He was at baseball fields, football fields, basketball courts and wrestling mats throughout the state. Not only taking pictures of his own, but all the team. His pictures have filled many scrapbooks.
Preceding him in death were his Father James Herman Sprouse, his grandparents Lena Mekelburg Sprouse and Donald and Roena Higgins, and his father and mother in law Harold and Lila Simpson. Those left to mourn his passing include his mother Elzene Sprouse, wife Shirley Sprouse, children Holly, Kyle (Cori), Tyson (Tiffany) and Jordan Sprouse, grandchildren Destiny (Marcus) Peterson, Damon Edgar, Aislynn Boese, Natalie, Cooper, Alia and Delilah Sprouse, Breanne Witte, Nick (Sammi) Witte, Keaton, Kason & Sully, Nikki (Ryan) Cordova, Payton & Ava and Brad (Blythe) Witte, Hadley & Scarlett, brother Dan Sprouse, sisters and brothers in law Mary Lou (Blaine) Zulkoski and Connie (Lanny) Payne, aunt & uncle Dale & JoAnn Aagesen and uncle Larry Higgins as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
