YC Econ Development to continue with Retail Coach

Yuma County, Colorado – The Yuma County Economic Development Corporation and The Retail Coach are proud to announce the continuation of their retail recruitment partnership for a second year, building on the momentum and measurable success achieved during the initial year of collaboration.

Since launching the partnership, the focus has been clear: strategically position Yuma County for retail growth by identifying, targeting, and directly engaging retailers that align with the needs and opportunities across the county. Efforts have been concentrated not only on Yuma County as a whole, but specifically within the communities of Yuma and Wray.

Over the course of the first year, The Retail Coach completed direct outreach to more than 50 retail prospects on behalf of Yuma County. Through a data-driven recruitment strategy, customized market analysis, and proactive engagement with site selectors and real estate representatives, the partnership successfully elevated Yuma County’s visibility among expanding retailers.

One of the most notable successes from the first year was assisting in the recruitment of Bomgaars to Wray. The new Bomgaars location occupies the former ALCO building, revitalizing a key retail property and bringing expanded farm, ranch, and home goods offerings to the region. This project represents a significant win for Wray and Yuma County and demonstrates the impact of targeted retail recruitment and consistent prospect engagement.

“The first year of this partnership delivered meaningful results for our county and our communities,” said Darlen Carpio, Executive Director of the Yuma County Economic Development Corporation. “Landing Bomgaars and connecting with more than 50 retail prospects shows that Yuma County is competitive and ready for continued growth.”

In Year Two, the partnership will maintain a strategic and aggressive focus on prospect outreach. The Retail Coach will continue identifying retailers and restaurants that fit the market demand and growth potential of Yuma County, while strengthening relationships with brokers, developers, and corporate real estate decision-makers.

In addition to direct outreach, The Retail Coach will represent Yuma County at major industry events, including ICSC and Retail Live conferences, where retail and restaurant brands actively seek expansion opportunities.

“Our continued partnership reflects a long-term commitment to retail growth,” said Aaron Farmer, President of The Retail Coach. “Yuma County has demonstrated strong fundamentals, and we are excited to build on the progress made in Year One by continuing aggressive outreach and industry representation.”
