YCS in Yuma on Saturday

Yuma County Softball has nothing but league games left in the 2025 regular season.

YCS will host Limon in Yuma on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m., then will host Holyoke in Wray on Tuesday for two games starting at 4 p.m. The team wraps up the regular season the following week.

YCS is 7-10 after splitting a doubleheader at Bayard, Nebraska, last Saturday, and dropping a single game against McCook, Nebraska, last Thursday in Wray.

The Yuma County girls were blanked 3-0 by the Bison last Thursday. All the scoring came in the top of the first inning. Danyelle Davis hit a double for YCS, and Jillian Ridnour and Lauren Gdanitz each recorded a hit. Priscylla White had a strong outing at pitcher, allowing one earned run on five hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. The defense was solid behind her with no errors.

They lost another close one in the opener at Bayard on Saturday in a 4-2 decision. YCS took the lead in the top of the first, but was shutout over the last six frames. Bayard scored two in the third and two in the sixth to get the win.

Gdanitz had three hits and scored one run, Clara Oestman one run, and Davis one RBI. Davis had a strong outing at pitcher. She allowed one earned run on five hits, striking out three and walking one.

YCS got back on the winning track in the nightcap, winning 17-3. The team broke out with 11 runs in the second, and the game was called after three innings. Davis hit two doubles with six RBI and two runs, White one double with five RBI and one run, Gdanitz three hits, one RBI and two runs, C. Oestman one hit, three runs and one RBI, Ellie Oestman one hit, one RBI and two runs, London King one RBI and three runs, Isabel Oestman one run, Grace Jones one RBI and two runs, and Gemma Oestman one run.
