Yuma County Softball is looking to make a move late in the season.
YCS is 11-10 after sweeping Holyoke 16-5 and 13-2 this past Tuesday in Wray. The local girls now get a break before wrapping up the regular season October 9 at Burlington.
They have won five in a row after this past Tuesday, including getting a sweep of the Limon Badgers last Saturday in Yuma.
YCS won the first game 10-4. It was scoreless after two innings, and Limon took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. However, YCS answered with five runs in the home half, then added five more in the fourth.
Danyelle Davis got the pitching win, striking out seven and walking three over seven innings. She yielded hits. All of Limon’s runs were unearned, and only three of YCS’s 10 runs were earned, as the teams combined for 12 errors.
Gemma Oestman had two hits and one run, Davis two hits, three RBI and two runs, London King one hit and one run, Clara Oestman one hit, one RBI and two runs, Lauren Gdaniz two runs, Grace Jones one run, Isabel Oestman one run, and Priscylla White two RBI.
YCS took the second game with a tight 7-5 decision.
It was all offense in the first frame as Limon scored five in the top half, and YCS answered with three. Yuma County added three more int eh second for a 6-5 lead, and tacked on one more in the sixth. Limon was held scoreless over its last six at-bats.
White got the pitching win, striking out four, walking four, scattered three hits over seven innings. Again, all of Limon’s runs were unearned, though YCS had just one error.
C. Oestman had a double among her two hits, with two RBI and two runs, Gdanitz two hits and two runs, Davis one hit and one run, Kaylee Aguilar one hit and three RBI, G. Oestman one run and King one run.
