The season is coming to an end for the Yuma High School boys golf team.
Alexander Weathers is on pace to qualify for the Class 2A tournament in October, but the League Championship at Sky Ranch Golf Course today, September 25, in Sterling will be the finale for everyone else.
Weathers is in the running for a high finish in the final league standings, and the Outlaws are as well. The other schools in the league are Akron, Arickaree, Burlington, Holyoke, Liberty, Limon, Fleming, Flagler, Stratton, Sedgwick County and Wray.
The Outlaws went to the Strasburg Indians Invitational last Wednesday at Murphy Creek. The course is by Buckley Air Force Base. Coach Benjamin Weathers said they got to see a lot of jets taking off and doing some pretty cool maneuvers above the course, along with air traffic from DIA.
On the course, freshman Braxton Metcalfe scored his first-ever birdie, and Weathers got his first-ever Eagles. Weathers shot an 83, Metcalfe 96, Orly Lunch 103 and Carter Benish 107.
‘This was a really fun trip and could see the guys coming together as a team,” coach Weathers said.
