YMS girls keep rolling

The Yuma Middle School girls basketball teams have been picking up more wins during a busy January.
Yuma played Akron earlier last week. The A-team won 34-30 in overtime. Berkley Nighswonger had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Taryn Sheffield nine points and seven steals, Addison Armstrong five points and four steals, Aubrey Black four points and five steals, Laisha Loya two points and four steals, Achtonn Neill one point and two rebounds, and Layla Glanz two rebounds and two steals.
The B-team won 21-8. Loya had eight points and five steals, Addison Armstrong six points and five rebounds, Emory McClaran two points and three rebounds, Addie Baucke two points and four rebounds, Kena Serl two points and five rebounds, Riley Thomson two steals, Keylen Quezada one point and six steals, and Haley Smith one assist.
The C-team beat Akron 29-9. Kena Serl had 15 points and six rebounds, Clara Oestman four points and three assists, Aileen Olivas four points, McClaran two points and three assists, Mayrin Sanchez two points, Olivia Ruiz two points and two rebounds, Smith two steals, Emely Zuniga one rebound, Sofia Fuentes one assist, Thomson three assists and twosteals, and Aymar Ramirez one rebound.
The D-team won 24-6. Ruiz had 12 points and eight rebounds, Amaya Rascon four pints and three rebounds, Izzy Oestman two oints and four assists, Zuniga two points and three rebounds, Olivas two points and two rebounds, Sanchez two points and four steals, Ramirez three rebounds and two steals, and Fuentes three rebounds.
YMS played Sterling last Saturday. The A-team cruised to a 50-15 victory. Nighswonger had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Sheffield 11 points and six steals, Black eight points and six steals, Glanz six points and two rebounds, Loya four points and four steals, Armstrong two points and four rebounds, Neill two points and three rebounds, Quezada two points and two steals, and Mendoza two rebounds.
The B-team won 41-14. Loya had 20 points and eight steals, McClaran six points and three rebounds, Serl five points and six rebounds, Glanz four points and five rebounds, Mendoza four pints and seven rebounds, Quezada four rebounds and six steals, Thomson two rebounds and two steals, Baucke four rebounds, and Daphani Allen four rebounds and two steals.
The C-team won 36-10. Serl had 18 points, McClaran 10, C. Oestman four, Ruiz two and Smith two.
The D-team won 26-16. Ruiz had 12 points, I. Oestman 10, Zuniga two and Sanchez two.
