Yuma-1 accepting Outlaw images

Yuma School District-1 is accepting Outlaws mascot images through May 10.

The district had been working with a firm to create an Outlaws mascot since the new mascot was announced last September. However, district leaders became frustrated with the process. It was decided at the Yuma-1 Board of Education meeting in March to open up submissions to the public. It took several weeks before all the legalities were ironed out.

Yuma posted the requirements and release form on its Facebook page and website, yumaschool.org, last Thursday.

Mainly, all artwork must be original and must not include any clip art or other non-original components. It must be appropriate for pre-K through 12th grade. Any artwork including weapons in the design will be rejected.

Once submitted, all artwork becomes the property of YSD-1. There will not be compensation of any kind for the person who submits the winning entry. Those under 18 years old must have a parent/guardian also sign the release form.

Submissions, either electronic or hard copy, need to be delivered to the District Office. The physical address is 1115 S. Ash St. One can email the submission and signed release form to [email protected].

They will be reviewed and evaluated for quality and appropriateness by district administration and staff. The approved submissions then will be put forward for community input.

The YSD-1 Board will give final approval.
