Yuma-1’s early count showing enrollment decrease

Early numbers are showing Yuma School District-1’s enrollment is down about 40 students from last year.
The preliminary numbers show 847 students in Pre-K through 12th grade, compared to 886 last year. The 2021-22 early count was 874, and the early count for the 2020-21 school year was 899.

Early enrollment figures are tricky in that it changes frequently until the official count is completed later in the fall for state funding purposes.
This year’s early enrollment for K-12 is 799, compared to 814 in 2022, 810 in 2021, 846 in 2020, 828 in 2019, 786 in 2018, 780 in 2017, and 775 in 2016.
Including Pre-K, six of the 14 grades have an enrollment of 60 or more. The early count shows first grade with the most students at 73, and fourth grade is the smallest with 51.
Yuma High School’s enrollment shows 249 students, down from last year’s 265. It was at 254 in 2021. The YHS enrollment was as low as 219 in 2016, but has been much higher since. The YHS enrollment breaks down as follows: Ninth grade 56; 10th grade 68; 11th grade 59, and; 12th grade 66.
Yuma Middle School, grades 5-8, has three of its four grades with enrollment under 60, with an early count of 229, one below last year’s 230, and well below 2021’s 255. The YMS breakdown is as follows: Fifth grade 61; sixth grade 58; seventh grade 54, and; eighth grade 56.
Morris Elementary School, grades K-4, has the two biggest grades in the district and also the smallest. It’s early enrollment is 313, down a bit from last year’s 319, but above 2021’s 301.
The early figures show Kindergarten with 61 students, first grade 73, second grade 58, third grade 70, and fourth grade 51.
Yuma Preschool shows an enrollment of 56, down from 64 last year. The early count in 2021 was 64, 53 in 2020, and 62 in 2019.

Liberty
Liberty J-4 is showing a slight decrease with 64 students in Pre-K through 12th grade, compared to 68 last year. The breakdown is as follows: Pre-K six; kindergarten six; first grade five; second grade four; third grade two; fourth grade nine; fifth grade six; sixth grade two; seventh grade nine; eighth grade two; ninth grade eight; 10th grade two; 11th grade one, and; 12th grade two.

Lone Star
Lone Star School District No. 101’s early enrollment is 126 students, up two from last year.
There are seven in kindergarten, four in first grade, six in the second grade, eight in third grade, 12 in fourth grade, nine in fifth grade, five in sixth grade, 14 in seventh grade, 10 in eighth grade, 15 in ninth grade, 15 in 10th grade, six in 11th grade and 15 in 12th grade.

Arickaree
Arickaree R-3 is showing an early enrollment of 92 students in grades Pre-K through 12th, down nine from the beginning of last year.
Arickaree has 10 in preschool, 11 in kindergarten, six in first grade, five in second grade, 10 in third grade, seven in fourth grade, five in fifth grade, two in sixth grade, four in seventh grade, one in eighth grade, nine in ninth grade, seven in 10th grade, nine in 11th grade and six in 12th grade.
