The Yuma Art Association is delighted to announce the judges for its annual art show.
Peter Youngers will judge the adult division. Mr. Youngers taught art for 36 years at Northeastern Junior College until his retirement. He has juried art exhibits at the local, regional and national levels. He has led community and state arts councils and Colorado art education organizations.
Peter is a painter, printmaker and stained glass artist. His work includes expressionistic watercolors and woodcuts of landscape images of Colorado with emphasis on the northeastern plains. Many of his glass pieces are abstract using light, color and texture to create dramatic visual effects. Mr. Youngers holds art degrees from Wichita State University. His art works are in private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe.
Cindy Musgrave, noted Wray artist and owner of The Artist’s Alley art supply store, will judge the youth division. Beginning with her first adult oil painting class in fifth grade, Cindy was commissioned to paint pictures while in junior high and took a summer art course at age 14 in New York. Her high school art studies led to a major in Art at Culver Stockton College in Canton Missouri. She creates in oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, and other media including her current favorite alcohol ink on glass. She loves the way the glass lets the light into the painting instead of bouncing off the surface, dancing inside to create unique reflections and brighter colors.
You can see some of Peter’s art in the featured artist exhibit at the Yuma Art Show and meet both Cindy and Peter at the opening day reception Saturday, October 11, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. 4th Ave. in Yuma. Cindy’s work is on exhibit across the street at The Orphanage, 300 South Main Street.
The show will remain open from 11-4 Sunday, 10-6 Monday and Tuesday, and 10-3 Wednesday, October 15, with many beautiful artworks for to view and buy. Income from art sales support the Art Association’s scholarship program. Art will be released to the artists from 3-5pm Wednesday, October 15.
