Yuma boys seek fifth straight

The Yuma High School boys basketball team will be seeking its fifth straight win when it heads to Haxtun on Tuesday, February 16.
The Indians are 4-0 in Lower Platte Activities Association play, 4-3 overall, after doubling up Caliche, 86-43, last Friday for its fourth-straight win.

Yuma erupted for 31 points in the first quarter on the Buffaloes’ homecourt. The Indians led 51-15 at halftime, and led by as much as 48 points in the second half.
It was the third time in the Indians’ four-game winning streak they scored more than 70 points, averaging 78 points during the streak.
Yuma shot 44 percent, including 52 percent on 2-pointers. The Indians launched 29 from behind the arc, making nine. They came up with 12 steals, and committed only 10 turnovers.
A total of 11 Indians scored. Javier Gamboa had 17 points and two rebounds, Clay Robinson 14 points and two rebounds, Jonathan Carillo 12 points and three steals, Jesus Ross eight points, five steals and three rebounds, Forest Rutledge seven points and two steals, Beau Tate six points and six rebounds, Lane Remmich four points and two rebounds, Damon Thornton four points, Angel Escobar four points, Andre Baucke two points and three rebounds, and Cade Morton three assists.
