Yuma High School’s girls basketball team will play for the Patriot League Tournament title Saturday night.
The Outlaws will take on Wiggins at 6 p.m. at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Yuma is 17-5 and now No. 2 in the CHSAA 3A Selection & Seeding Index following its 33-21 win over Resurrection Christian in their PTL semifinal Wednesday night in The Pit.
Wiggins is 18-4 and No. 3, beating 4A No. 1 University 45-42 in the other semifinal. The Outlaws beat Wiggins 28-21 earlier this month. Both will be hosting a 3A regional next weekend.
Yuma had lost to Resurrection Christian 52-40 at home just one week ago, as the Cougars scored 23 points in the second quarter.

The teams met again Wednesday night, and this time the Outlaws held the visitors from Loveland to 10 points through the first three quarters. The Cougars’ 21 points were two less than they scored in the second quarter a week earlier.
Yuma definitely rode its defense as it had just 13 points in the first half before scoring 10 in each of the last two quarters.
Rez’s Bethany Vrooman, the Patriot’s leading scorer at 17 points per game, was held to eight. Yuma had 27 rebounds to Rez’s 12. However, Yuma again gave away a lot of possessions with 27 turnovers.
Berkley Nighswonger had 12 points and six rebounds, Taryn Sheffield six points and three assists, Bailey Nighswonger four points and nine rebounds, Lauren Gonzales four points and five rebounds, Keylen Quezada four points and three steals, and Carolina Ross three points and four rebounds.
