Yuma High School’s volleyball season will get rolling before the end of August.
Yuma will open the 2023 season at home on Saturday, August 26, against the Sidney Red Raiders.
The former Indians will open Lower Platte play at home September 14 against Akron. The Lower Platte will present its usual gauntlet — the league produced two state champions in 2022, Merino on Class 1A and Sedgwick County in 2A. The showdown with rival Wray will be October 13 in Yuma.
It appears the only tournament on this year’s schedule is at Akron on September 23. Yuma travels out of state twice, to Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, and Chase County (Imperial), Nebraska, in early September.
Among the non-league opponents are Brush, Resurrection Christian, and Northridge.
There are four Friday dates in which the volleyball plays before the football game, at Wiggins on September 29, against Burlington on October 6, against Wray on October 13, and at Holyoke on October 20.
