Otis High School’s boys basketball team reached double-figure wins last weekend, and will look to add to that total.
The Bulldogs were 10-4, and No. 10 in the CHSAA 1A Selection & Seeding Index, heading into this past Tuesday’s home game against Lone Star. They are at Peetz on Friday and Merino on Saturday before hosting Idalia on Tuesday for a rescheduled game.
Otis cruised to a 66-30 win at Arickaree last Friday. The Bulldogs scored 27 in the second quarter for a 41-21 lead, then held the Bison scoreless in the fourth quarter. Gracen Bechtle had 12 points and five steals, Austin Hornung 11 points and four assists, Grady Bechtle 11 points, 18 rebounds, four steals and five blocks, Gavin Price 11 points and seven rebounds, Dalton DeMers 10 points and six assists, Cambric Klinzmann eight points and five steals, and Mitchell Stivers three points and three steals.
The Outlaws claimed a 55-19 home win over Hi-Plains last Saturday afternoon. Details were not available.
ARICKAREE
Arickaree’s boys basketball team entered this week 7-8 and No. 24 in the CHSAA 1A Selection & Seeding Index.
The Bison hosted Burlington this past Tuesday. They then hit the road, playing at Kiowa on Thursday, Hi-Plains on Frdiay and Denver Jewish Day on Tuesday.
Arickaree hosted Otis last Friday, losing 66-30. They trailed 41-21 by halftime.
Daniel Goff had 11 points and 15 rebounds, Austin Wright six points and six rebounds, Wyatt Sperry five points and five rebounds, Bradley Hermes four points, five rebounds and five assists, and Jackson Cordell four points and three rebounds.
LONE STAR BOYS
Lone Star’s boys basketball team host Front Range Baptist today, February 12, and are at Fleming on Tuesday.
The Longhorns were 2-11 entering this past Tuesday’s at Otis.
They dropped two home games last week. Lone Star lost 60-16 to Potter-Dix, Nebraska, last Thursday. Henry Glenn had four points and three rebounds, Ian Pastor four points, four rebounds and five steals, Anderson Weathers three points and three rebounds, Trevor Scheopner three points and three rebounds, and Brock Fisher two points.
Lone Star hosted Bethune on Saturday, losing 48-41. They Longhorns led going into the fourth quarter but could not hold on. Weathers had 15 points and 14 rebounds, Glenn 12 points and three rebounds, Riley Sherwood five points, Jack Glenn five points, Pastor four points and four rebounds, and Scheopner four rebounds.
LONE STAR GIRLS
The Lone Star girls basketball team continued to hover around .500 entering this week.
The Longhorns were 6-7 and No. 25 in the CHSAA 1A Selection & Seeding Index heading into this past Tuesday’s game at Otis. They host Front Range Baptist today, February 12, and are at Fleming on Tuesday.

Lone Star picked up two home wins last week. The Longhorns beat Potter-Dix, Nebraska, 56-33 last Thursday. Jade Kuntz had 23 points, Peytyn Kuntz 14, Aimee Trejo 11, Rosie Fisher three, Tayah Wade three, and Bryn Cook two.
They then rolled to a 56-18 win over Bethune last Saturday. They scored 21 points in the first quarter. Lone Star statistics were not available.
OTIS GIRLS
The Otis High School girls basketball team was 2-11 entering this past Tuesday’s home game against Lone Star.

They are at Peetz today, February 12, and Merino on Friday, followed by a rescheduled home game against Idalia on Tuesday.
Otis lost a thriller at home last Saturday, 54-52 to Hi-Plains in overtime. The Bulldogs overcame an early deficit to tie the score at 47 at the end of regulation. Mireia Fernandez had 21 points and six rebounds, Aedyn Tribelhorn 10 points and four assists, Lydia Willeke eight points and four rebounds, Hattie Price six points and four rebounds, Kensley Packer three points and seven rebounds, Madison Reynolds three points, and Ashton Gross one point and five rebounds.
