6-man: A/W rebounds for win; Otis suffers first loss

The Arickree/Woodlin football team rebounded from a season-opening loss to defending 6-man champion Fleming with a 66-38 home win over Hi-Plains, last Thursday.
The Indian Mustangs are at Hanover, Saturday afternoon, looking to go above .500 on the young season.
Arickaree/Woodlin pulled away in the second half to claim the win, last Thursday. The teams were tied 18-18 at halftime. The Indian Mustangs took a 31-24 lead in the third quarter, then exploded for 35 points in the fourth.
Logan Wright ran for 316 yards and seven touchdowns, Samuel Koolstra 119 yards and one TD, Jake King 34 yards, and Estevan Ramirez five yards and one TD. Wright completed both of his pass attempts, one to Nic Hermes for 41 yards, and one to Koolstra for 23. Connor Jesse scored on a kickoff return.
Koolstra was in on 15 tackles to lead the defense, Hayden Page 11, Wright nine, Jacob Jefferson six, Bryce Shaffer five, Zarron Skubal and Aydon Escobedo three each, and Ramirez two.

Otis suffers setback
Otis High School’s football team has been at both ends of the spectrum during its first two weeks of the 2021 season.
The Bulldogs are 1-1 heading into Saturday’s game fourth-ranked Stratton. They opened the season with a blowout win at Weldon Valley, but suffered a 65-8 loss to Idalia, last Friday in their home opener.
Idalia ran out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter, and was up 52-8 by halftime.
Otis’ lone score came courtesy of a 28-yard touchdown pass from Tayte Smith to Jack Willeke in the second quarter. Carter Wells also completed a seven-yard pass to Peyton Wells.
The Bulldogs had a total of 115 yards, including 80 on the ground. Smith ran for 61 yards on 20 carries, P. Wells 19 on five attempts, and Paxton Davis three yards.
Charlie Kendrick was in on seven total tackles, Bohden Klinzmann six, Taylor Ringlein four, P. Wells three, Smith three and Erick Thorn two.
