New playground at City Park

The City of Yuma is thrilled to announce that the new playground at Yuma City Park is officially open to the community.

After months of planning and construction, the new play area is ready to welcome children and families just in time for summer fun. The playground officially opened on Tuesday, July 22, featuring exciting new equipment and a freshly installed safety surface.

This project is part of the City’s continued commitment to improving public spaces and creating inclusive, family-friendly environments for residents of all ages.

In addition to the new playground, the construction of a brand-new splash pad will begin in the months to come, with plans to open in May 2026. This exciting addition will bring even more outdoor fun and water play to Yuma City Park in the near future.

The playground is the latest in a series of upgrades at City Park in recent months.

There is now a walking path that winds around the whole park. The total cost for that was $240,000, with a grant for $216,000 covering the bulk of it.

A skate park/pump park was installed in the spring. It includes the traditional skate park ramps, along with a pump park featuring banked curves, rolling straightaways and tunnels. The cost was $304,273.

And now the new playground is completed. It’s total cost was $403,632.41, with $83,446 covered by a grant.

The balance of all the upgrades are out of the city’s Capital Projects and Conservation Trust funds.

The city kindly asks everyone to help take care of our beautiful new park — please respect the equipment, keep the area clean, and encourage safe and courteous play so all can enjoy it for years to come.

Also, please remember bicycles, skateboards, and motorized scooters are not allowed on the playground surface. These activities should be enjoyed in the new skate and pump park nearby to help protect the new equipment and ensure safety for all kids.

Come out, explore, and enjoy the newest addition to Yuma City Park!
