The Yuma City Council election will come to a close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.

There are eight candidates for the four seats up for election. The candidates, as they appear on the ballot, are Shannon Scholefield, Zane McMeekin, Marc Shay, Dana Olsen Josh, Marylu Smith-Dischner, Terri Frame, Jerome Benish and Daniel J. Ebersole. Shay, Smith-Dischner, Frame and Ebersole currently are on the council.
Registered voters have received their ballots in the mail. However, those who are unregistered and are eligible to be a voter may register up to and on election day at Yuma City Hall. Application for an absentee ballot must be made no later than 5 p.m. Friday, April 1.
Ballots must be turned in no later than 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5. They can be returned by mail, or deposited in the ballot box at City Hall. If not mailed by now, it might be best to take to the ballot box to ensure that it arrives in time to be counted.
A candidate forum was held this past Tuesday night at Red Willow on Main. Also, four candidates were featured in the Pioneer last week, and the other four can be found in this week’s edition.
