Beware of spikes in the road

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding someone hammering spikes into the roadway.
Seven stakes were found by Sara Wood hammered all in a row along a tar line on Lone Star Road (County Road 54) and Road E, Monday morning. She pulled them out with pliers, and also reported she had seen two cars on the side of the road prior to finding the spikes.
The YCSO reported it led to multiple flat tires on numerous vehicles. The office noted it could have been much worse, potentially causing serious vehicle crashes.
There was a report on Facebook Tuesday of more screws and nails reportedly being laid out on Road 54 again at Road YY.
The YCSO and Washington County Sheriff’s Office have teamed up to offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to the identity of the perpetrators. One can call 332-4806, or message the sheriff’s office on Facebook Messenger if you have any information. The WSCO’s number is 970-345-2244. Your identity will remain anonymous.
