Bonnie Jean Bernhardt (Klein), 81, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 18, 2021 in Yuma, Colorado. She was the wife and widow of Richard (Dick) Bernhardt, whom she married on July 30, 1960.
Born in Johnstown, Colorado, she was a daughter of Reinhold and Frida Klein on July 19, 1940. She attended Roosevelt High School and was a graduate with the class of 1958. Bonnie would later attend and graduate from school for cosmetology and then go to work with her mother-in-law before going on to work at Genevieve’s Salon until she retired.
Bonnie enjoyed attending Dutch-Hops and dancing with her husband every chance she could and loved cheering on her favorite teams the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. However, the thing that she enjoyed most was getting to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her vivacious spirit and empathy as a family matriarch will be forever remembered and missed by her adoring family and friends.
She is survived by her sister Diane Klein and brother Ron Klein; children, Lorie Leonhardt (Greg), and Rod Bernhardt (Denise); grandchildren Cliff and CJ Leonhardt, Rian, Kacie, and Lain Bernhardt; along with many beautiful great grandchildren. Bonnie is predeceased by her loving husband, and sisters Shirly Finley and Darlene Depperschmidt.
Bonnie will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at a private family service.
