Boys golf season ends at regional

Yuma High School’s boys golf team’s season came to an end Tuesday in the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament in Greeley.
The Yuma foursome had a decent showing, finishing 15th out of 23 teams with a 289 team score. However, none of the Yuma golfers earned a state berth. Coach Benjamin Weathers said the cut for qualifying for state was 85, and there were six golfers in the playoff for the final state berth.
Nash Richardson led the way for Yuma, shooting a 90 on the Highland Hills course. Kyle Schuetz shot a 98, Jack Blecha 101 and Brodie Castillo 11. JJ Ward won the league tournament last week, but was unable to attend regional. Schuetz took his place on the regional foursome.
Yuma closed out the regular season late last week at the Fort Morgan Invitational. The team finished eighth with a 305. Schuetz shot a 94, Jake Hagemeier 102, Jayden Serl 109 and Ethan Gonzales 125.
