Cross country heads to Fort Morgan

Yuma High School’s cross country runners head west to the Fort Morgan Invitational, Friday.
The runners initially had two weeks after its season-opener, but were able to get an invite to the Legacy Lightning Invitational, last Friday at Broomfield County Commons Park.
The Yuma boys had a nice run, finishing 16th out of 23 schools in the team points, with 396. Loveland won the boys title with 57.
Javier Duran paced Yuma by placing 49th with a time of 19 minutes, 36 seconds. Angel Escobar was 65th in 20:18, Jiovani Perez 96th in 21:12, Silas Chambers 105th in 21:23, and Kevin Orona 113th in 21:36. Anderson Weathers finished in 22:22, and Hugo Olivasin 22:45.
Yuma’s girls did not have the five runners required to post a team score. Yuma’s threesome, though, still had a good run. Ashley Ibanez placed 72nd with a time of 25:03, while Kenya Arvizo was 89th in 26:50, and Myka McDonald 96th in 27:09.
