Dexter Lewis Robertson 1928-2020

Dexter Lewis Robertson died at the age of 91 in a Phoenix, Arizona, medical facility on March 18, 2020, as a result of complications from injuries suffered in a car accident in February.
Dexter was born on September 30, 1928, in Yuma, Colorado to Glen W. Robertson and Olive I. (Yingling) Robertson. He graduated from Yuma High School and started a career in education with a job as the teacher and bus driver in a one-room school in Hyde, Colorado. After attending Colorado State College in Greeley, he moved his family to Otis, Colorado, where he was the grade school principal for many years. Dexter became involved in the farm and ranch business in 1957 and was proud of the operation he built up which continues today east of Yuma.
Dexter encouraged family and students to develop their talents and pursue their goals with energy. He loved horses and was the race announcer at the Yuma Fair for 46 years and honored by being selected the Yuma County Parade Grand Marshall.
Dexter was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jennie Lee (Greenfield) Robertson, a son, Stuart Robertson who passed away in June, 2019, and his brother Duane D. Robertson. He is survived by three children, Kirk Dexter Robertson (Jan) of Vancouver, WA, a daughter, Kristie Lee (Robertson) Arnold (Jon) of Greeley, CO, and Kit Neal Robertson (Randi) of Yuma, CO, daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Whaley) Robertson of Phoenix, AZ, and five grandchildren.
Due to our current coronavirus restrictions, a private graveside internment is scheduled. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather in his honor.
