Greeley is next stop for Yuma runners

Yuma High School’s cross country runners will be heading to Greeley on Saturday for the Greeley West Invitational.
They had a good run at the Fort Morgan Invitational, last Friday afternoon.
Yuma’s boys finished third in the team standings with 88 points. Resurrection Christian won the team title with 22 points, and Wiggins was second with 49. A total of nine schools had enough runners for a team score.
Angel Escobar led the way by placing 14th in 18 minutes, 49.5 seconds. Javier Duran was close behind in 16th in 18:59.1, Silas Chambers was 21st in 19:19.8, Jiovani Perez 23rd in 19:44.7, and Kevin Orona 27th in 19:56.7. Hugo Olivas ran the course in 20:18.4 and Anderson Weathers in 21:54.1.
Liam McClaran won the JV boys race in 21:03.6, while Angel Ibarra was eighth in 23:05.9, and Jaime Montanez 15th in 24:29.9.
The Yuma girls had four in the varsity race. Myka McDonald placed 22nd in 24:01.8, Kenya Arvizo 28th in 24:49.9, Nuvia Vega 37th in 25:35.3, and Alyssa Roberts 38th in 25:57.8.
