Judith “Judy” Anne Reed was born February 25, 1941 to Floyd and Alberta (Coryell) Rowe in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Rowe family moved to Flagler, CO when Judy was a young girl. She attended Flagler Schools, graduating from Flagler High School in 1959.
Judy was baptized into the Christian faith on May 25, 1948, and was a longstanding member of the First Baptist Church at Flagler, CO.
She married Raymond “Ray” D. Reed from Flagler, CO on July 25, 1959. Three children were born to this union Mona, Lori and Michael. They lived in Flagler until Ray took a transfer with the Department of Agriculture to the San Luis Valley in Colorado. Judy started teaching there in the Valley and learned Spanish because her children would fight in the second language and got away with it until Judy got quite proficient herself.
In 1974 Judy and Ray moved the family and livestock to Wray, CO where they bought a farm few miles east of town. Ray worked for the Soil Conservation District and Judy worked in the Wray School District 2. Judy retired from teaching in 2008.
Judy’s favorite scriptures were 1Corinthians:13 “And now these three remain, faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” and Jeremiah 29:11-12 “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord….”.
The family of Judy is going to let Judy’s own words be printed here: “Each day I try to smile, to pray and to count my blessings! I have been happy and I know that I have been so lucky, so loved and so blessed.
I know that I have had the best family and friends that anyone could have had. Thank you, family and friends for your love and friendship. Please – remember the good times!
Thank you Lord, for your wonderful love, blessings and forgiveness – and for eternal life!”
It is Judy’s wish that she be cremated and that here be no funeral. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Judy’s remembrance to the “Friends of Wray Library” in and to the WRAC in Wray Colorado.
Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
