Leonhardt charged in Juhl’s death

Law enforcement has made an arrest nearly 10 months following the death of Yuma native Tresa Juhl (nee Brown).
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chad Leonhardt last Wednesday, June 28, on a warrant out of Washington County for second degree murder (felony), first degree assault (felony), second degree assault – strangulation (felony), and domestic violence (sentence enhancer).
It was September 2, 2022 when deputies responded to Leonhardt’s home located in the 44000 block of County Road 43.75 for a death investigation. Tresa Juhl of Otis was found dead at the residence.
Investigators from the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Northeast Colorado Major Crimes Taskforce, and Colorado Bureau of Investigation were called to assist in the investigation.
Leonhardt is being held at the Washington County Justice Center pending advisement. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported no further press releases will be released at this time.
