Leonhardt murder case moves forward

Probably cause has been found to move forward with the case against Chad Leonhardt in regards to the 2022 death of Tresa Juhl.

A preliminary hearing was held last Thursday, January 4, in Washington County District Court. Probable cause was found on two counts, second degree murder and first degree assault, both felonies.

An arraignment is scheduled for February 13 in Akron.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Leonhardt on June 28, 2023 on a warrant out of Washington County that contained four counts.

It was September 2, 2022 when deputies responded to Leonhardt’s home located in the 44000 block of County Road 43.75 for a death investigation. Tresa Juhl of Otis was found dead at the residence.

Investigators from the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Northeast Colorado Major Crimes Taskforce, and Colorado Bureau of Investigation were called to assist in the investigation.

There is no comment from anyone involved in the case as the judge has issued a gag order.
