Area student-athletes will be looking to bring home some state medals this week at the Class 1A Track and Field Championships, Thursday through Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
Lone Star’s Anderson Weathers in the top seed in the 300-meter hurdles, third in the 110-meter hurdles, No. 1 in the pole vault and sixth in the high jump. Fellow Longhorn Will Mollohan is the seventh seed in the pole vault.
Otis’ Jayce Ballah is second in the pole vault, as he and Weathers will square off for the final time Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Cambric Klinzmann is eighth in the 200-meter dash, ninth in the 400, and 10th in the shot put.
Arickaree’s Austin Wright is ranked No. 1 in the discus, and third in the shot put. Keith Page is the sixth seed in the 110-meter hurdles. Arickaree-Woodlin also has a team in the 4-by-400 relay as the seventh seed. The discus is at 1:30 p.m. Friday, the shot put at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The hurdles and sprint races all are on Saturday.
Lone Star’s girls have four in the pole vault. Jade Kuntz is the top seed, Peytyn Kuntz the second, Katie Etle ninth and Bryn Cook 10th.
Otis’ Kensley Packer is sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump, while Lydia Willeke is eighth in the pole vault.
The girls pole vault is today, May 14, at 5 p.m. The triple jump is Friday at 12:30 p.m., and the long jump Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
There are some Liberty students in the 1A meet competing for Idalia. Aidan Baar is third in the 200 dash, fourth in the 400 and seventh in the 100. Hayden Drullinger is fifth in the 300 hurdles, and Edward Keller is No. 6 in the discus. Logan Drullinger is the 10th seed in the pole vault. Idalia’s boys also have all four relays in the state meet, with Baar and H. Drullinger competing in those.
