Multiple deaths and injuries in WashCo wreck

A two-vehicle wreck last Saturday in southern Washington County resulted in two fatalities and multiple serious injuries.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred at about 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, on Washington County Road 12 at Washington County Road RR. The two-vehicle crash involved a Honda Pilot and a Ford F-350.

Driver of the Pilot was identified as a 25 year old male out of Cope, who suffered no injuries, and was transported to a hospital. One passenger was identified as a 50 year old female out of Cope, who was transported to the hospital for serious injuries. Another passenger was identified as an 18 year old male out of Cope, who was airlifted to a hospital for serious injuries. A third passenger was identified as a 31 year old male out of Cope, who was airlifted to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. A fourth passenger, identified as a 50 year old male out of Cope, was declared dead at the scene.

The Driver of the F350 was identified as a 58 year old male out of McLennan, Texas, who suffered minor injuries, and was not transported. The passenger was identified as a 53 year old female out of McLennan, Texas, who was transported to the hospital for serious injuries.

According to the CSP report, The Pilot was eastbound on Washington County Road 12, and the F350 was northbound on Washington County Road RR. The Pilot failed to yield the right of way to the F350, causing the F350 to strike the passenger side of the Pilot, causing it to spin out of control. The Pilot continued eastbound off the northeast corner of the intersection where it rolled, before coming to rest on its wheels facing north. The F350 continued north, spinning out of control and traveling off the east side of the road. The F350 came to rest on its wheels facing south.

The Washington County Coroner’s office will release the names of the deceased after proper notifications have been made.
