Old Threshers trying to grow own crops

The Old Threshers Group of Yuma is going to be growing crops the old-school way.

Old Threshers is planting spring wheat, corn and summer fallow at the north end of the parking lot located west of the Old Threshers Grounds.

Several of the Old Threshers members gathered last Saturday afternoon to plant the wheat. Vance Redden and his team of horses drilled the wheat.

The plan is to use the crops for some of the demonstrations held during Old Threshers Days in September.

The group welcomes everyone to come out and watch whenever there is activity at the plots. Follow Old Threshers Group of Yuma on Facebook for updates, as well as the Pioneer Facebook along with right here in the printed edition.

Anyone interested in joining the Old Threshers Group is more than welcome. The annual membership per family is $10. Contact Chad Day at 630-2220.
